Who am I, and what makes me a great learning program manager?
I’m Arianna, and I’m currently a Labor Planner at Amazon!
I have a strong foundation in operations management, workforce planning, and education management stemming from my 3+ years of experience in Supply Chain and academic background and experience in Education and Design.
As a Labor Planner and former operations manager, I frequently use data to drive decision making. I am able to gather and synthesize data into easy-to-understand communication for my stakeholders that work in high-pressure environments.
Prior to Amazon, I've worked various internships, volunteer opportunities, and summer jobs in the Education industry, where I developed an interest in curriculum development and instructional design. Since 2015, I've taught in five different classroom settings and been in three program management/administrative roles, and I’ve created learning programs for audiences in elementary school, higher education, and the workforce!
Most of my experience in Education is actually with Early childhood, specifically Arts Education. I like to apply concepts of play-based learning, social learning, and hands-on learning to my work in learning programs for adults. By creating learning programs that immerse our learner in the work that they’ll be doing, we make sure that they get to experience the work in a safe and guided environment!
What drives me to create learning solutions?
I started at my current company as an Area Manager overseeing nightshifts, and I absolutely loved being a manager and having the opportunity to positively impact hundreds of people’s lives at work.
In operations, we like to talk about APEP - “Attack the Process, Engage the Person.” If something goes wrong, we should always look at the process and why it failed! Most of the time, it comes down to lack of understanding of the process, and that is never the recipient’s fault. Hence, when I look at opportunities in operations, I ask myself and my colleagues: “what can we do to help our team better understand the process? What are the SMART goals we need to set for the team to help us get to the desired outcome?”
I believe a high performing team is a well-prepared team that is confident in what they’re doing - and that is what drives me to continue to find opportunities in employee development and create learning programs that foster positive workplace experiences.
